For context, I hadn't used X since EM took over... for basically 2 years. I had my accounts set to private so that they wouldn't receive abuse (I had often posted about gender equality and social justice issues).

Well, now I realize that keeping an account private and inactive may be the safest bet. They say they will delete inactive accounts but I don't believe them (hello vanity metrics).

Even better: maybe mock (in an elegant / witty way) its owner so that he permanently bans your account
