The Redot fork of Godot seems to be growing legs, and they might actually pull something off with it. Of course, it's also possible it'll peter out like others have, but I hope for the best and wish them well.
The reality is, even if Redot goes nowhere, it is an effective rally point for opposition to Godot Foundation's bullshit, and I'd argue it siphons resources and mindshare away from them no matter what happens, so in that sense its a win either way.
I take a page from Discordianism here and say I want as many competing forks as possible, serious- and meme- alike. The day an erotic VN gets made using "Lolidot", I'll be a happy man.
