not ending now but if usage starts to be full of shady i may. if i can't see how the relay is used, who is it serving, why continue. there may be other smaller relays in other countries that could serve anything.

the nature of nostr relays is they are pretty open. anybody can post. it is like pastebin. and banning is against the philosophy of nostr. so we will see how that goes.

it is not about costs. it is about doing the right thing, serving the good people etc.

i think when relays can be distributed like in the 'tree of relays' design, and people start running relays at home, nostr can be more decentralized. like torrent downloading and sharing, but for notes. small computers could do layer 6 for example, and that would mean 1/64th of the network. pretty low cpu and traffic. when the network grows and node counts increase other layers can be done.

companies like start9 could add the software for sure.

i think in the design of nostr, the relays were not thought out well. fiatjaf said as far as I remember once 'nobody should run relays'. and one time 'relays run in russia somewhere'. he may be surprised why people are running this many relays.

the next evolution should be a smarter design of relays. my design goes from one layer to another by doubling but it could be quadrupling too. like for layer 1= 4 nodes. layer 2 = 16 nodes. layer 5 = 1024
