VMs are a dumb idea, exactly, but even java uses various kinds of GC, i'm always seeing notice of this with my intellij IDE, which is written in java
i don't like VMs because of the inherent latency of any abstraction, binary is the way to go, and DLL hell is why i like multi-apps and static binaries
