The conspiracy theory is that DS9 was a conscious ripoff of Babylon 5, another show about a space station in a critical location that becomes the nexus of a gigantic galactic war between the pawns of super beings.
As Babylon 5 was a very early instance of arc based television it would make sense that DS9 copied that as well.
