sure newpipe, smarttubenext, yt-dlp etc still exist but how long before google applies widevine l3 to all youtube videos just to enforce viewing ads (which i hear have become even more numerous and unskippable)
(maybe that would be impractical but applying widevine l3 to all uploads after a certain point would be)
