I had a PhD, almost thirty years of experience in a valued industry, come from a country largely perceived to be safe, and already had a job in the country I was trying to get a work permit in and I only managed to get a temporary work permit and was effectively pushed out again after four years.
Things have only gotten more difficult in the intervening years.
Emigration is fucking hard and portraying it as easy is just setting people up for disappointment
