"Honor" feels like it's hard to define, but I had a thought as to what it is practically.
Namely, it seems to be the *cultural* force that self-limits the ruling class' behavior. It's like "law" but for people who are above the law.
Years ago, it occurred to me that a major problem with the American ruling class is that it has no honor: there is no force, cultural or otherwise, that limits their exercise or expression of power.
If I was a politician, I'd start fighting for "honor".
