As was I. I was called on to teach blind kids notataker stuff in my school days. I feel like the VI internet communities are full of people like us. But I didn't truly realize that until I started working for Apple. That's where I really began to see the emotional toll vision loss takes on people and why they sometimes don't have the spoons to learn new tech. I feel like because we didn't have to problem solve that transition as a kid, we had more spoons to learn tech as a result. I mean, we had vision loss to deal with, but we didn't have the trauma of our whole sensory worlds changing on top of that. Y'all have really got me thinking about how special it is to have so many VI friends who are just as good at blind tech as me. It really is a privilege to have all of you in my virtual life. I wasn't going to get all sappy, and then three of you said the same thing. Smiles.
