It appears likely that the Dutch government will decide on their “chat control” position today. Yesterday parliament demanded the release of ministerial advice leading up to this decision. If this passes WhatsApp will have to scan all your photos for known child pornography and in 5 years with AI for generic detection. Detection leads to a report to Meta and thence Europol and local police.
