This got me, where you said they can't code basic spam prevention. But I accept your redaction. Yes, nostr is heavily dependent on client side logic for everything so this is why it's good for clients to practice and get spam prevention measures in so that when anti-spam logic is released to the relays we can win the arms race.. Till then, filter filter filter.. relays are designed to be a firehose and there is very little logic in them at this moment. The relay software I use, does not have hooks for being a paid relay but it's supremely fast and a technological marvel imho.
