I also love to be helpful, and a project can be churning along fine until someone decides to dictate how I do my job to the point that I just have to divest all ownership of the task at hand and go into “robot mode” just to get through it, and all motivation is lost. It’s caused me to wall myself off from the creative client work I do so often that for a long time I lost all joy in it.
