Yeah, *Carol* is missing from the movie list which is too bad. I liked it a lot, even if it was directed by a gay man, I thought it was a very thoughtful, sensitive portrayal of the times (the 50s) and how much women lacked of rights and lesbians had even less rights.
The movie skips over it (the book mentions it but in a subtle way) but Carol had to go through therapy because her ex-husband demanded it of her in the divorce papers. And back then, therapy for lesbians was quite *unpalatable*, to put it mildly. That's on of the reasons why, at the end of the movie, Carol looks so frail and small when she meets Therese for tea.
