For some days now, #SDF and #Turkey have been negotiating on a ceasefire. Today the U.S. State Department announced that the ceasefire was extended until the end of the week. At the same time, SDF this evening proposed a demilitarised zone:
“In cha sé fati on of our firm commitment to achieving a comprehensive ceasefire throughout Syria, we announce our readiness to submit a proposal to establish a demilitarized zone in the city of Kobani, with the redistribution of security forces under American supervision and presence. This initiative aims to address Turkey's security concerns and ensure lasting stability in the region.”
The map above shows how in the situation of war, #Kobane region risks being cut off from the rest of the #AANES.
