This was made with a 4x5 Sinar P view camera and a BetterLight scanning digital back, a very heavy and cumbersome combination to use in the field. Scanning backs, now mostly obsolete, capture a single column of pixels at a time, and move across the frame with a stepper motor. They can't capture moving subjects, since the full capture requires several minutes to complete. But they could capture over a much larger format (4x5 and up) than any other digital technology.
