And the side effects (more data on drive than capacity) will cause post-run pain for the user, confusion, etc.
Think migration, moving to new Macs, etc.
Even though we know how to do this (obviously brute force) we don't on backups for performance/sense reasons on Smart Update. (Erase replicates to preserve these relationships, even for data-only on v3.10.)
