2. Cost can deter potential providers from entering a market
3. If you're first to market (because, say, you've built the market) then deterrence is a competitive advantage
4. Thus, scaling problems are a bug if your concern is network efficiency, but maybe more of a feature if your concern is market dominance
5. Decentralization may technically be a property of a network structured that way, but it will incline heavily toward de facto centralization
