Letharia vulpina , aka Wolf Lichen has been used by the Klamath Indians and others as a dye for ages.
We were up in the Sierra Nevadas at Lake Tahoe this weekend and I was obsessing over how much of this wonderful neon green lichen was every where. I love the stuff. It's bright and loud and poisonous. Do not eat.
