Trusting yourself = happiness.

That’s the headline, but of course there is so much nuance.

What is meant by “happiness”? A more accurate term would probably be contentment as “happiness” can be interpreted as “constant high”, which is not realistic. What is actually meant here is one’s general level of contentment, or peace.

What is meant by “trusting yourself”? I was watching this Instagram video about rebuilding trust in a relationship, you need to communicate, and be consistent, and honest, and reliable… and all of this applies to building trust with yourself. To trust yourself you need to know yourself, you need to be honest with yourself, you need to be consistent, when you tell yourself you’re going to do something, you need to do it. You need to learn how to feel what you are feeling without pushing it away or denying it. You need to live in alignment with your values, even when that is scary.

When you have a close relationship with yourself you don’t worry so much about the future, about what will happen if zyx happens. You trust yourself to handle that if and when it happens. You think more about the moment and less about the possible outcomes in the future. As a result you are calmer, more curious, more creative, you have more peace… you are happier.
