My uncle who taught at Baylor and his wife, both of whom spent their careers teaching in SBC schools, were both dismayed by the right-wing turn of the SBC. Another uncle (by marriage) was descended from multiple generations of Baptist missionary-preachers, and left the SBC for the CBF after the SBC took its rightward turn. His father had been SBC president in Arkansas.",
