I'm a long time #LinuxDesktopUser. I'm not a systems guy. I'm want to try #nixOS (the first #immutable distro that I've ever looked at). I'm used to #LiveCD the #TryBeforeYouBuy (so to speak) approach.

Two questions: Is that possible with nixOS? and can I install it in a VM to try it out? I realize it's a different animal when compared to other distros. By it's nature it may not be practical to dip one's toe in the water -- ya gotta just jump in.

Please advise...
