Every Socialist regime will have a set of intellectuals who legitimise the regime's existence. Doesn't matter if they do it for the BJP or the DMK, they way they all function is similar.
Some of the things they do:
•Create an 'in-group', people who are supposed to be the allies and an 'out-group', who is the enemy that one must be always angry at.
•They create a historical narrative that depicts the in-group as being oppressed or subjugated to suffering by the out-group for hundreds or thousands of years.
•According to them, the regime is required to make sure it never happens again, and that some form of justice is achieved for the past.
•They will tell you that you must vote for this regime, or else you are betraying your in-group.
•Economic realities don't exist and shouldn't matter, the regime doesn't care about material advancement. If you care about material advancement for you and your family, you are a selfish traitor to the cause.
•If they are forced to talk about economic realities, they can always throw out certain metrics that don't make sense and defy logic and reasoning. If questioned, they will say that these are things that can only be understood by people who have $200k economics degrees, which is of course false. The entire branch of Keynesian economics exists for people like these socialist intellectuals.
•According to them, individuals don't matter. Only group-thinking exists. They think only the intellectuals have agency and can think for themselves because they have read a bunch of books and studied a bunch of worthless humanities degrees.
•Everything they say is to legitimise the existence of the regime. They might feign neutrality by being critical of it, but you better be sure that they are doing that only to gain your trust.
•According to these people, your personal responsibility isn't to yourself, your family, your community, your country and then to the world. It is to the in-group's advancement in goals that were set by these intellectuals.
