I think I could modify an old Sony Sports Walkman to have a rechargeable battery... but I don't know if I could make it look good.
I even think I could add the bluetooth... but it would end up being one of my gadget projects that always gets me flagged when I go through airport security and my husband said I need to stop doing that.
