Water heater rebuild success. Bottom element had completely broken apart, total mess extracting it all. But it’s all fixed now. Replaced all components: upper and lower elements as well as switches. Water is once again hot, and I have a spare set of elements if/when it happens again.
Still need to replace the anode rod, but I need a buddy to help me hold the tank down while I break it loose. Can’t do that part by myself.
