The first time I went there was when I was as a child a year after 9/11 and that was probably when New York was the most orderly it has ever been. I had a good time and it probably did contribute to the image I later developed of America.
I even had a plan with my brother since I was like 12 to go and do a road trip across America and see small towns and the nature and just feel the vibe. I got to do that 17 years after the first time we went, and by then I was well disillusioned. The geography and nature are just awesome, but the vibe is just gone and mystery races are everywhere. I just kept telling my brother how bittersweet it felt, how you can still see a lot of the remnants of what white people built and how unforgivable it feels to see what jews did to all of it.
