Comprised of just four colors, black, white, light gray, and dark gray, these sprites are used at the start of a battle, or in the case of the player character and Prof. Oak, in menus and story scenes.
This was made in the days before handhelds supported color... but in my humble opinion, there's a charm to monochrome sprites that colored sprites don't have.
