I'm 46 this year. Because I distinctly recall the Halloween when I was 16 years old, when I was sort of too old to go trick-or-treating but went anyway, not without a feeling of extreme self-consciousness, the contrast between weather conditions then and now is striking. I just took a walk. When I came back I was sweating. It's 75F. In my childhood, it was an eternal struggle to craft Halloween costumes that had enough warm layers to let us be out and about for extended periods. 30 years ago I dressed up as the sky (blue dress/wrap thing, fluffy cotton clouds glued to it, sun mask) but I had to put a winter coat on over it because it was cold enough to snow.
