It's a neat idea, that there is someone we can rely upon to establish the relevant facts, so we can establish our debates on those premises. But experience is that it never functioned that way. Ever.

I guess it would be a wonderful innovation if it could successfully establish neutrality. It would be great.

But what are the odds? And is it even what the public wants?
