Star Wars: The Glass Abyss is a solid outing and, surprisingly, another novel set in the early Clone Wars—likely within a month or two of the events following The Phantom Menace.
Throughout the book, we learn quite a bit about Mace Windu: his upbringing, his attitude toward various situations, and the doubts and fears he may have been harboring all this time.
Essentially, we find ourselves on a mission with a challenging set of circumstances. The antagonist is absolutely awesome, and the storyline stays fairly centered on the core action. However, as sometimes happens, the book suffers from a few pacing issues.
There are many battles—most of which are intense and enjoyable—but there are also moments when I found myself wondering what we were doing.
Overall, it’s a solid entry, and I definitely recommend reading it. It also leaves some opportunities to further explore Mace’s story. 3/5
