I'm not religious per se, but had a strict Christian upbringing and so I am actually quite familiar with Christianity.
I've always thought, from having read about him that Jesus advocated for peace, not war. He helped the downtrodden. No job. Unemployable, really. Dossed around with other hippies. Relied on others for sustenance. Stood up to the establishment, capitalism and greed, which eventually got him assassinated.
According to modern standards, Jesus would be considered a hippie and communist.
Christofascists would, at least, have modern Jesus thrown in jail were he to return. Their values are the polar opposite to his. In fact, I think he would be appalled at what is being preached and done in his name. What I suspect were his teachings have been utterly corrupted. Such is the way, alas, with organised religion
