While humanity continues to burn fossil fuels and run headlong towards climate change, another planetwide issue is continuing to improve: the size of the hole in the ozone layer. Thanks to our past use of chlorofluorocarbons, a hole opens up in the ozone layer above the Earth's southern pole. But, because of worldwide regulations and less use of these chemicals, the ozone layer hole is getting smaller. The 2024 hole was the 7th smallest since recovery began in 1992.
