Worked for VW for a little over 10 years. If you want to work on your own car, you need specialized tools. Okay, fine so you buy them.
-Different model, all different tools
-Every 4-5 years a new updated model comes out, guess what? New proprietary tooling.
-Its all intentional.
Ends up cheaper repairing at the dealership.
I started leasing years ago because of this shit.
The Car is always new, Always under warranty and I pre pay the maintenance.
At least I know how much I’m spending a year.

quoting note1mu9…pr4gLove my car, usually have no problems. One headlight goes out, I go to the auto shop and buy a pair. Waiting for weather to clear up so I can get down and dirty in the driveway. Few days later, other one goes out.
Looking in the manual for how to change. ( I’ve changed bulbs before, and every vehicle is different now ). Says to take vehicle to dealer. WTF ?
Turns out, you have to take the front bumper off to change lightbulbs. The other option was to try and get through the wheel wells and see if I can reach bulbs.
