Animated avatars are the most idiotic idea anybody ever had IMHO. You are trying to read a post, maybe a bit tired, and your eye keeps getting distracted by this incessant movement over to the left. Clients that support it should absolutely have a setting to turn the annoying fucking thing off. It's as bad as 1990s blink text.
