Bitcoin's adoption is in large part due to its neutrality. Privacy, though it *should* be viewed as neutral, is seen as an impediment to the control of the ruling class and is therefore very politically charged (much like healthcare, labor rights, human rights, etc). What we do have is a protocol that can survive the fall of an empire, and can implement privacy bolstering features on top given the right political climate. The protocol layer is not the battlefield for everything, not only is that technocratic quixoticness but it also messes with the simplicity/anti-fragility of the Network. No shortcut through political organizing.
