Note to self: Stripe's "usage-based billing" API looks like it might be robust enough to support a by-work solution, if one were crazy enough to build it out oneself. It apparently requires command line access to whatever server you're going to run it on, and available language choices are: Ruby, Python, PHP, Java, Node, Go, and .NET.
