On Facebook (Meta) joining the fediverse
Hello, boys and girls!
No doubt you have heard rumours about Facebook working on their fedi implementation and talking to various Mastodon admins behind the closed doors. Our policy on Stereophonic will be the following:
* We will not cooperate with Meta (or any other big corporate services on the fediverse) whatsoever.
* Big corporate services like Meta will be defederated from immediately, including blocking them from fetching posts from Stereophonic Space. You will not see their content, they will not see yours.
* Rumour has it, Meta is working on pushing other instances to show advertisement from Meta in exchange for financial compensation. If these ads do somehow federate, the instance spreading them will also be defederated from immediately (per Spam rule).
We do not take on defederation lightly, as you might've noticed, but big corporate entities will be treated as hostile by default.
