Very long night last night, as apparently several groups of neighbors were competing to see who could let off the most illegal fireworks before morning.

Our house rattled a number of times, and sleep evaded me for most of it. In past years I would cuddle Inkwell during it, because although he was generally a very calm cat when outside noises intruded, he didn't like the big booms. I missed him more than ever last night.

I haven't gone out to see if anyone managed to burn their homes down, yet.
