In our culture we have given rights to abstract entities called companies. But any other living being, incl those similar to us such as primates or mammals, have no rights or are even regarded as property. Sometimes as property of these abstract entities.

This isn’t written in any natural law. It’s all something we have created in our minds. And it, together with many other cultural values we have, ends up shaping the physical world & destiny of entire species.
