Alfred Hitchcock was under contract to David O. Selznick, but 20th Century Fox made a trade and got Hitch to direct this film in exchange for the services of several actors and technicians and the rights to three stories that Fox owned. Hitch was originally supposed to direct a second film for Fox, but he made only one (Fox reportedly thought he took too long to finish Lifeboat). #FridayThrillerClub
