I like football and the Philadelphia Eagles are my team. That said, I find the Super Bowl overwhelming and entirely unecessary as a cultural spectacle. The commercials are weak and the halftime show absurd.

It doesn’t help that the sport is a devastating physical travesty bordering on criminal in its disregard for human life. They are modern day gladiators killing each other for our amusement.

I hope my Birds beat the Chiefs like a drum, but I’m not going to lose any sleep over it. #NFL
