The only time joy exists is for a short while after eliminating evil. Or suffering, but that is always caused by some internal or external evil, so same thing.
Therefore, both, joy and suffering are evil.
The best state of mind you can aim for is neutrality. Always, every day, for the entire life. Never gets old nor boring.
Only the wealthy can get that. Not so much in terms of USD (although they are one of the tools), but wealthy in wisdom and time.
