Someone asked me for a profile pic for some conference materials today.

I have a face for radio, but I begrudgingly complied.

But how can I take a better pic, myself, for this kind of thing, without buying fancy kit / using non-Free software, or spending too much time on it?

Advice welcomed!

(I have a phone, a webcam, a ring light, and GIMP...)
