just realised i went on a tangent and wrote a giant wall of text tl;dr: i can get it mostly done by myself, all i really need is some audio stuff very later in development.
for the engine i did decide to give up my years of training of making my own engine because i want it to exist, so i am learning godot (i have to rewire my brain anytime i write any code lol), but i do have experience in a little bit of everything, and i am keeping it short, small scale and everything dandy.
really all outside help i need is audio, which is a very important aspect to a game like this, i can prolly live with royalty free audio samples.
i would also need to have some VA work done.
the project started as an idea of explaining and sort of making the player understand my own experience with gynophobia, since it seems to be a phobia a lot of people (not their fault) cannot comprehend it, so yeah there would need to be a few female VAs, various different audio samples of laughing (i plan on having them playing on top of each other), along with some audio samples for the individual monsters, also screaming, with some barely comprehensible sentences (it's gonna be a bit of a pain finding women willing to participate).
i think i will not have problems finding good (royalty free or non-commercial) sounds of things like metal, flesh smashing into stone, puddles and other stuff like that.
then comes soundtrack, i do know a few composers, and i do plan to hit them up and ask them for it, but it's way too early for that now, it will probably be a year until i start scouting for any VA or soundtrack work.
it will focus on gynophobia, but as i was writing this i came with the concept of the main character i really wanted to work on, it is, essentially an internal struggle for the main character to hold up to the virtues he was taught. he is a young aspring surgeon who was always disconnected from his social life, and he lead a life of misery and public humiliation, he has problems living up to the heroic ideal he sees, he wants to be noble and right, but struggles against his fear (and depending on how you go about the game, his rage, hatred and thirst for punishing those who hurt him).
how i wrote it so far is that the ending is dependent on how you go about playing the game, there is no combat, there is only 4 planned "monsters" that roam around the map, but to progress he will have to deal with them one by one, for example, there is a spider creature who is blind but has good hearing, she has set up spiderwebs in front of an important door, you cannot sneak through it, so you can either choose to lead her to a cage to lock her up, or make a molotov and burn her alive.
