I've just found out something I've wanted to know for something like 35 years.
I found out who the narrator was on a tape of Go-Bots stories I had when I was little. Turns out it was someone called Peter Marinker.
I just came across an audiobook on YouTube read by him that credited the narrator and I recognised his voice right away.
