npub1rr400gmgrlg0h6kf3jhgm3nmu5da3nrm6z77qaql6nc6az8sex5q6wh68k (npub1rr4…h68k) One thing I'm never going to cry about is cops getting their asses kicked and taking battlefield defeats.

Case in point: the technological superiority achieved over DC's cops by the dirt bike and ATV riders has been a game-changer in DC. It has pushed the frontline between license requiring and non-license requiring vehicles away from ebikes and other bikes (later...) back in the direction or larger and more powerful vehicles.

As a cyclist not wanting to ever be required to be licensed to ride a bike, I support the dirt bike and ATV riders in DC. They are fighting MY battle as well as their own, so I owe them my support. When I am in DC, I cheer as these mostly young and incredibly skilled riders take to the streets and run rings around cops.

In the absense this inability to enforce license laws aginst SOMEONE, we would probably see growth of currently fringe campaigns to require licenses first for E-bikes, then for all bikes. Some of the muscle truck types have openly called for licensing bicycles, and China already does or used to. Once that happens we get helmet laws, camera tickets, the works. No thanks.

Governments would LOVE to have license plates on bicycles for reasons that have nothing to do with traffic safety, hell they would require a license plate on your shirt to walk out of your house if they could get away with it. The stinging military defeats inflicted on DC's police by dirt bike riders mean that since DC cannot enforce licensing of their current smallest contested vehicle class, they cannot take on cyclists as well, not even by targetting E-bikes first.

Fuck the police, ACAB always...
