There's still quite a large area only covered by 2G, and insufficient consistent 3/4/5G connection to facilitate reliable voice calls. Landlines can be useful if mobile connectivity goes down. Significant proportion of elderly struggle to deal with/operate smartphones and computers. They will be obsolete eventually, just not yet.
