You can/could always chain multiple OP_RETURN outputs to get past the 80 bytes limit. I stand with the fact that it’s more convenient now and a bit less overhead, but not orders of magnitude. Child porn and other disgusting stuff has been put into the blockchain since it’s early days to discredit Bitcoin. It didn’t kill it then and won’t kill it this time. No need to implement any kind of censoring into the mempool IMHO. That’s a cat and mouse game you can’t win in cyberspace and would hurt Bitcoin more than just live with the fact that anybody can put any combination of byte sequences into the blockchain they want. But not for free. It has opportunity cost. And it’s every node runners choice if they look at and interpret the additional byte sequences in the blockchain or if they just audit the money supply. 21 million, ever. 🤙
