Thoughts on President Biden's remarks at the recent UN meeting?
(https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/speeches-remarks/2024/09/24/remarks-by-president-biden-before-the-79th-session-of-the-united-nations-general-assembly-new-york-ny/)
Some highlights/quick thoughts from yours truly:
1-Gives his little history/bio, why?
2-Ukraine-continue to support...mmm, ok
3-"...we seek to responsibly manage the competition with China so it does not veer into conflict." Is seeking responsible management really the best the US can do? What does that mean? I don't think I like this statement. Does this imply the US can't compete and so they have to manage competition? That's like changing the rules to your own advantage right? Some may call that cheating. I'm a fan of keeping the US safe and strong but I'm also a fan of open and free markets. If the US can't compete w/o "veer[ing] into conflict" it needs to improve somewhere.
4-"the United States is unabashed, pushing back against unfair economic competition and against military coercion of other nations" 😅 😅 see my #3
5-ME, rages on.
6-US's contributions towards the Sustainable Dev. Goals, etc. Donated 700 million doses of COVID vaccine. That's a big number! Wow.
7-Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment-hmmm, I hadn't heard of this before. Interesting that Black Rock is an investor and perhaps stands to benefit (https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2024/06/13/fact-sheet-partnership-for-global-infrastructure-and-investment-at-the-g7-summit-2/)
8-AI/Tech advances; encouragement to use AI responsibly.
9-"it's your people that matter the most...the future will be won by those who unleash the full potential of their people to breathe free, to think freely, to innovate, to educate, to live and love openly without fear. "
