I used to be quite interested in what Ray Kurweil was doing and writing, although I always favoured Doug Engelbart's "Intelligence Augmentation" (IA) viewpoint — that computers, internet etc are tools for humans to use, not replacements. There was always an IA vs AI battle, and I think LLMs actually show that IA is right. Plus I think Ray has lost the plot, because I don't believe you'll ever be able to upload your brain / consciousness to the cloud. #my2cents
