Veteran nurse Sandie Peggie was piped into the final day of her employment tribunal against NHS Fife and transgender doctor Beth Upton before the hearing is paused until the summer. Ms Peggie was suspended by her employer for objecting to the presence of a man who identifies as a woman in the female changing area at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.
The case has electrified the UK, with high-profile supporters asking why a policy of gender self-ID has apparently been adopted by the health board despite the fact it does not exist in law. Outside Endeavour House in Dundee, a large number of supporters gathered to wish Ms Peggie all the best. Many had banners, including one held by a small boy with the memorable phrase 'Don't be silly, You've got a willy!!!'
